Ainhoa...
We are a young Spanish couple joint
together by our passion: tasting the world from our bikes. The fact that we
come from different fields (Ainhoa is a historian specialised in the Far East;
Gabriel a gardener and an expert in Botany) makes us fully enjoy our
surrounding, regardless of it being produced by human craft or being a piece of
the art of nature. We have felt this way every single time we had the chance to
fly over the road on our bikes, to feel our wheels stroking the nude earth, or
to climb mountains that were never too high, rocky or steep, as to make us get
off the bike (unless that was to push it instead of riding it).
...and Gabriel
Angela
I am originally from Sardinia, in Italy. I’ve
met Ainhoa years ago in one of my research trips to Seville. We had a great
time both in the Archive of the Indies and in the city, and we kept in touch
since then. Besides doing my PhD in Colonial History of the Iberian Atlantic
(think Spain and Mexico City in the 17th century, that’ll do), I
have been organising language events here in Liverpool (as a co-founder of The
Italy Gate, www.theitalygate.co.uk
). Having to deal with many languages myself, I am in a continuous language
mess! When Ainhoa and Gabriel began their project and blog, I suggested
translating it into English straightaway and I’m glad I can now do it myself.
I’m going to learn a lot about (more) history and Japan! I’ll be following them
in their journey while spending some time in my hometown in Sardinia (think
proper Mediterranean Summer, just to start with). That’s just too good to be
true… Thanks Ainhoa and Gabriel!
Note that this as close I can get to the amazing adventure Ainhoa and Gabriel are embarking into!
